My drawings and watercolor paintings are visual collages composed from many different sources and inspirations. Using a wide range of collected imagery I construct new environments that have an eerie familiarity exploring themes of transition, transformation, and growth. I combine memories from my own life as well as stories related to me by other people and draw upon found photographs, old encyclopedias, films, newspaper clippings, thrift shop finds, and the internet. Intricate patterns, bright colors, and rich sunlight collide to create a dreamy, emotional landscape. In my new body of work "Natures Rituals and Mistaken Identities", I composed scenes of nature overwhelming man. The figures are only a small part of a grand landscape. Sunlight, rainfall and foliage take over while the figures sit back and watch or try to change things without consequence. In the drawings that include other species, animals coexist on the same level, caring for one another as they would their own. They forgo their expected behavior, looking only for another to love.
